Grace Harbor Kindergarten
GHCS Kindergarten Philosophy
We offer an environment and education that inspires children to be creative problem-solvers, innovators, and leaders. We approach the learning experience by infusing a strong Language Arts & Math curriculum with STEAM inspired learning. GHCS is an academic program that is filled with school spirit, joy, and warmth through God’s loving embrace. Our students will learn with purpose and exude confidence as we strive to foster the development of their self-esteem and independence. God loves his little children and we honor him and our students by striving to build a strong foundation in which will foster confidence in all aspects of their academic, social-emotional, and biblical journey.
Proverbs 22:6 Start children off on the way they should go, and even when they are old they will not turn from it.
Our Kindergarten program is collaborative, developmentally appropriate, and built on the tenets of teaching to the whole child. We provide a joyful, warm, and caring atmosphere that gives students the freedom to explore and build on their independence.
Our students will have daily opportunities to learn and practice the essential social, emotional, problem-solving, and language skills that they will use throughout their schooling. Reading, recognizing short words, counting, math fundamentals, printing, early social studies, healthy habits, early science, and time concepts will be implemented and integrated throughout each child’s day at GHCS.

The development of our student’s self-esteem is one of the most important goals of our program. As our students are working on an academic level, they will have the opportunity to integrate the use of social-emotional learnings. They will be improving their social-emotional competence, increased regulation, and improved classroom behavior. These skills will lead to the development of an increased level of school success, school connectedness and belonging, improved peer relationships, and self-awareness.
